Web page comparison:

 

There are currently two main types of LibGen web pages: old version and new version, and the new version has been optimized a lot compared to the old version.

 

 

1. Tab:

 

Three tabs, Login, Links, and Wanted, have been added. The login and book request options are basically useless, because you can download Libgen without logging in, and the book request option is generally not satisfactory. The more important thing is the Links option, which recommends many useful resource websites, but most of them require tools. Only Magazdb among them can be directly connected to the intranet.

 

 

2. Search:

 

The options on the old version of the website are all exclusive. If you choose one, you cannot choose the other. For novices, it is still very difficult to judge whether the book they are looking for is fiction or non-fiction. The new version has been specially optimized for this, and all options have been selected. For novices, they only need to directly enter the ISBN or author's book title to search, and there is no need to do complicated judgment questions.

 

 

3. Information and downloads:

 

The old version of the book information, download links, etc. are relatively direct, and basically no UI design is considered. In addition to downloading through mirrors, there are a series of other download methods. Unfamiliar friends may be confused when they first encounter it. Don't know which one to order. The new version only retains the two download methods of mirror and IPFS, and makes them into buttons, and the page information presentation method is more concise and efficient.

Generally, there are only two download images, just choose whichever one can be used, and both images have no full-screen ads.

 

 

2. New version:

 

 

 

The new version will provide at most five download mirrors. You can view the mirror name by hovering the mouse over the blue button. The fourth mirror seems to be always gray and cannot be used. Among the remaining four mirrors, bookfi.net and libgen .pw actually cannot be used.

Download method:

 

There are two main download methods, four download buttons: Get at the top and IPFS at the bottom. The IPFS download method may be faster than the Get download method. If you use a private IPFS gateway, the download speed may be faster. However, several IPFS buttons provided use public gateways, some of which cannot be used, and some are not very stable and may require multiple attempts. However, the Get download method is relatively stable and does not have such problems.
